Colds are the most commonly occurring viral infection all over the world. Colds can invade human body in any season, but the virus is most active in the autumn, winter, and rainy seasons when people are more likely to be indoors with the windows closed. Low indoor humidity dries out the nasal passages, making them susceptible to infection.
Colds are caused by 2 different viruses: Rhino virus and Carno virus. There are 110 different strains of Rhino virus that infect humans, and only 4 or 5 strains of Carno virus that infect humans. Prolonged cold can lead to complications like Pneumonia, Bronchitis, Ear Infection, Sinusitis and Asthma.
