Atherosclerosis, Athero mean Heart Vessel (soft), Sclerosis means Fibrosis (hardening), one of the common heart diseases in the world.
Atherosclerosis is due to too much LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) cholesterol in blood vessels to block arteries. HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein) helps to clean the LDL cholesterol, but more LDL and less HDL causes blocking of blood arteries. More LDL cholesterol increase the risk of heart attack as well as high blood pressure and of stroke.
