Thousands of people are devastated due to earthquakes all over the world each year. The Richter scale is a measurement of the magnitude (of the seismic energy released) of earthquake.
Richter scale is a logarithmic scale, so a 5.0 on the Richter scale has a shaking amplitude 10 times larger than on that measures 4.0. This infographic depicts the difference among different magnitudes of earthquakes and the immense amount of energy they release to give a better understanding of one of nature's most power forces.
