On February 2, 2015, Iran successfully launched a Fajr (Dawn) satellite to space using a Safir-2 rocket. Iran is dead set on producing all the equipment required for space exploration at home, often seen as one the country's major short-term goals. Fars news agency to claim that in a few years' time we should expect postcards and New Year greetings from Iranian astronauts in space.
