US Presidential Election is not over on the election day, on November 3, due to following reasons:

  • Most US states has their own separate rules and laws
  • Higher number of postal mail-in ballots, more delay is expected
  • 50 states count votes after Election Day
  • 18 states count ballots that arrive after Election Day
  • 29 states count military ballots that arrive after Election Day
  • Deadlines to certify state results range from November 5 to December 8
  • Electoral College votes on December 14
  • Congress certifies the Electoral College vote on January 6
  • US Presidential Election 2020 are different as there are large number of mail-in ballots, nationwide by United States voters in USA.
