What is Zika Virus and how Infect

Zika virus is a disease caused by a virus transmitted by mosquitoes. Discovered in 1947 in Uganda, she is part of the family of dengue and yellow fever.


Transmission: The virus can not be transmitted directly by man. Mosquitoes can however inoculate after taking blood from an infected individual.


Symptoms: Only 20% of those infected develop symptoms. It can be noted: fever, dizziness, light headedness, muscle pain, rash, etc.

Pregnant Women: The real challenge for pregnant women. The virus can cause fetal death or birth defects. Experts advise to avoid traveling the affected areas, particularly in the overseas territories.


Epidemic: The disease mainly affects Latin America. 1.4 million people are affected in Brazil. The virus is present in Europe, but can not be transmitted in the absence of mosquitoes winter.


Treatment and Prevention: There is no treatment or vaccine against the virus. To prevent the risk of infection, the only way left to use a mosquito repellent.
